Gandikota is a village and historical fort on the right bank of the Pennar river, in Kadapa district, Andhra Pradesh. The fort was the centre of power for various dynasties such as the Kalyani Chalukyas, Pemmasani Nayakas, and the Golconda Sultanate. The gorge through which the river Pennar flows in the Erramala hills is popularly known as 'India's Grand Canyon'.
