Pens and pencils (not the graphite, but metal parts and some inks) can contain lead. Paints — especially older ones — contain lead compounds. Hair oils and cosmetics, particularly folk medicines, ayurvedics, and cosmetics like kohl (surma/kajal) are significant sources of lead. Lead can also be found in products such as kohl, a South Asian cosmetic, and from some toys.
