In National Parks, local people are NOT allowed to collect or use biomass — human activities including grazing, collection of forest produce, and settlement are strictly prohibited. In Wildlife Sanctuaries, some human activities including limited collection by local communities may be permitted. In Biosphere Reserves, the core zone is strict but the buffer and transition zones allow human use. Ramsar wetlands have their own management plans that may allow traditional uses.
